Ugh

Monday, March 28, 2016

I'm absolutely not a Trump supporter, but Ted Cruz can suck it. What is wrong with him?  His side started the wife-slandering garbage with THEIR ad. Yeesh.

And why does the media flock to Cruz's side? I don't get it. Maybe they just hate Trump more than they hate Cruz. We're all familiar with the"lesser of two evils" concept at this point, so I guess that must be it.

Not sure who my write-in will be this fall, but I'm not voting for any of these four clowns. It's sad, honestly. Of all the people with whom I've spoken about the election, none actually supports a particular candidate. They are all voting against an even less worthy candidate. Most (like me) don't want to vote for any of them.

It's a good thing Congress runs this country.

(Did I just write that?!)

Brain Tumor

Friday, March 25, 2016

Well, Lauren has a brain tumor.

It was an "incidental finding" on the MRI she had to determine whether or not she had MS. (It's a no on the MS.) Now that the spinal tap and PET scan are done, her oncologist says that it looks like it's a low grade glioma. He has referred her to a neurosurgeon. We also have a couple of names for neurosurgeons outside of Austin. We'll send her records to at least one of them as well.

The tumor is in the hippocampus, a more tricky part of the brain to remove, so we're not sure yet if they'll do a biopsy and then radiation or chemo, or just go ahead and remove it. (They remove half of the brain to cure epilepsy, so why couldn't they remove half the hippocampus? So complicated.)

They also saw on the MRI what they thought was a spinal AVM that has been causing her leg pain the past five years. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the angiogram yesterday showed that the vasculature in her brain and spine is completely normal, so we're still searching for a more specific diagnosis for her leg pain. For now, it's still a Central Pain Syndrome. We'll continue tweaking her neuro and pain meds to address the symptoms.

Lauren is hanging in there. She's focused on moving forward with the process and she has a great attitude.

Short-Timer Syndrome

Thursday, March 3, 2016

Oh, y'all. I've got it bad.

I like to be busy, so if I had more to do, it would be better. I had three projects coming my way before I gave notice (which was straight up insane really, and part of the reason I left). They reallocated those, so I'm left with two projects that are in maintenance mode at this point, with no likely drama in the last four weeks of my employment. I'm helping out my colleague (last man standing, we salute you) with his projects, but there's only so much of that I can do.

The short-term project I was supposed to be working on, the reason I gave so much notice and the task that would make the weeks fly by, got canceled. I wondered if they would ask if I'd like to move up my last day, but so far that's a no go.

So here I am on the blog! I have my eye on my email inbox though.

It's been empty for two hours.

At least I'm WFH today, so I can do a load of laundry instead playing Candy Crush!

SuperTuesday 2016

Wednesday, March 2, 2016

Robin Roberts... I just love her. She was talking about staying neutral as a journalist during political season and how sometimes it's difficult, but she doesn't want to influence people. Refreshing. I always think that if Stephanopoulos can do it, and he has always been a huge player in the Democratic party, anyone can do it. More of them should take that to heart, because they are providing the news, not embellishing it. If journalists always inserted their personal opinions into the news, it would have a big ol' ultra-liberal sway. Good, if you're into that sort of thing, I suppose.

She also mentioned that every year she's happy to be at the Oscars, but it was at the Oscars a few years ago that she started feeling ill with what turned out to be MDS. Now every time she goes back, she thinks about that. I feel exactly the same way about San Diego. I found out I'd had a miscarriage when we got home from a vacation in San Diego a thousand years ago. Still now, every single time someone mentions San Diego, I remember that.

San Diego- such a beautiful place! Bummer!

So... Rubio won our county on Tuesday! Yippee! We were the only Texas county where he won. There were reports of a possible glitch that took people's Trump votes and turned them into Rubio votes here, but I hope that was just some disappointed Trump supporters who had been drinking and voting. Don't drink and vote, friends. ;)

Bernie also won Travis County, so there's that.

Keepin' it weird, y'all!

Now my only problem is figuring out who I'll vote for in November. Unless something really freaky happens, it looks like it will be a race between two people I absolutely cannot stomach. Is there still time for someone to jump in and save us all?

Crystal and I are wondering which of our friends voted for Trump, but won't admit it. I would think differently of you if I knew, so don't tell me if you did.

:)
