Song remakes

Saturday, April 7, 2007

I actually enjoy Quietdrive's remake of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time." Other remakes of songs, not usually so much.

Lumidee's cover of "She's Like the Wind" is awful. Not that Patrick Swayze had a great voice or anything, but "...Just a fool to believe she got anything I need"??? Riiight. Next.

It's tempting to do Brian Adams covers, but please refrain from this at all costs. Haven't heard any good ones.

I love No Doubt, but the remake of Talk Talk's "It's My Life" was blah.

A good thing about remakes- kids definitely prefer them over the originals. At least they can appreciate the songs with a more current sound, and don't dismiss them completely. It's the same with movie remakes. Better to see the updated version than not to see them at all. Plus, all the original creators get to see additional revenue. (I hope!)
