I have invested in some books about SEO, and started working on tweaking my sites. The funny thing is, no matter what you do, your site's popularity going to increase over time. The internet is a viral kind of place, where sites get ever more popular with no attention at all from the webmaster. (Unless your website sucks, of course.) Optimization or none, you'll see results! I suppose you have to analyze past popularity trends before your changes are implemented, to really see what changes are due to optimization.
