Drought and Fire

Entertainment is... watching Chris Daughtry and Josh Paul have a Twitter conversation in the middle of the night. Those guys sure love what they do.
Very surreal moment last night on the way home from College Station- the beautiful area in and around Bastrop State Park is burning from a wind-whipped wildfire. At midnight, the flames extended almost right up to where we turned off Hwy 21 onto 290, the alternate route to Austin. Seeing it was frightening... and so sad. Over 14,000 acres and 300 homes in Bastrop have been burned so far and the fire is still uncontained and moving south. I've driven through that area countless times over the last 22 years. On the way to College Station on Saturday, we were just commenting how very pretty the lush, pine-tree-lined Hwy 21 is through there. Just sickening.
There are fires in north Austin as well. My heart goes out to everyone affected. They're saying October is Central Texas' best hope for rain. We desperately need it right about now!
