Merry Merry Christmas

The Dallas touristing continues. We've hit the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the Cowboys Stadium and attended the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular (more NYC than DFW, but touristy nonetheless).

The BEP was quite interesting, and we were right up front with the tour guide, so we got all sorts of extra details, along with a personal recommendation for the best barbecue in that area. Both he and the cashier in the gift shop made comments about "keeping Austin weird," when they found out we were from there. Ahaha. You know that never gets old... They are currently designing the new $100, which is the final new bill in the series before they start over to redesign them again. Those areas are blocked off so you cannot see them. The coolest thing about the place is the security officers there were the nicest I've encountered in quite a while. All the staff were very friendly.

Cowboys Stadium tour was worth the $15. You get to go into a suite and down into the Cowboys and Cowboy Cheerleaders locker rooms, plus all over the stadium (1.75 miles over an hour and a half). Lots of interesting info on the tour. I will spare you the heaping buttloads of factoids the very entertaining Ivan told us.

Rockettes were great! I had never seen them in person. We were supposed to meet one of them who is the sister of my in-laws' good friend, but she was leaving to catch a plane home for Christmas, so we couldn't.

Christmas Eve we went to my brother-in-law's place where his roommate and roommate's girlfriend made us dinner. Yummo! After that, we drove home in a blizzard. Okay, practically a blizzard. The Dallas freeways are bad enough without a three-inch slab of slush/ice. When you add large amounts of blowing snow, it gets nutty. We drove 5-15mph from Bedford to Irving. The flyovers on 635 were so icy that some cars were sliding just trying to get up the slope. Get new tires, people. This Texas gal is not driving again until the snow and ice melt today.

Merry Christmas all!!
