"Everything was Beautiful at the Ballet..."
Sunday, October 2, 2011
We went to Ballet Austin's Mozart Project performance last night at the Long Center. I really really enjoyed it! It was captivating- especially the two modernized segments by Graham Reynolds and DJ Spooky. Coolest visual effect- at the end of Reynolds' segment, the dancers are in the dark, but a super-bright light flashes every 8 seconds or so, like a flashbulb, revealing them in a different pose. Most amazing sound- DJ Spooky's entire Mozart "remix" with the live orchestra, with supercool modern/hip-hop choreography.
We also were very impressed during Reynolds' part that the musicians were a violinist, a cellist and a dude on a MacBook.
Of course, we loved the traditional ballet segment and music as well. Everyone needs a dose of culture at least once a year. Ballet, opera, symphony, dramatic readings... whatever blows your skirt up.
Patrick's Sunday Seven
You’re at a social function and you decide you want to have an alcoholic drink. Beer doesn’t seem “high class” enough for this function, so you head to the bar for a mixed drink. Can you name your seven favorite mixed drinks, liquors or spirits that might be among the options you’d consider, assuming the bar is fully stocked?
